How to Play Blackjack
The Goal
Build a hand that totals as close to 21 as possible
— without going over —
and finish with a higher total than the dealer.
That’s it. No prophecies, no riddles, no demons in teapots.
Just you, your cards, and your courage.
Card Values
- Number cards (2–10): worth their number
- J, Q, K: worth 10
- Ace (A): worth 11, unless that would make you bust — then it becomes 1
The Deal
At the start of each hand:
- You receive two face‑up cards
- The dealer receives one face‑up card and one face‑down card (the “hole” card)
Your bet is deducted immediately.
Your Options
Hit
Ask for another card.
Use with bravery. Or foolishness. Hard to tell the difference sometimes.
Stand
Stay with what you have.
Ideal when your nerve begins to falter.
Double Down
Double your bet, take one last card, and then automatically stand.
A bold move, Albion applauds such drama.
Natural Blackjack
If your first two cards total 21, that’s a Blackjack.
Dealer Rules
Once you’re done:
- The dealer reveals their hole card
- The dealer must draw until reaching 17 or higher
- If the dealer goes over 21 → they bust, and you win
The dealer does not think, scheme, ponder, or panic.
They simply follow their rules like a well‑trained chicken.
Winning, Losing, and Payouts
You Win When:
- Your total is higher than the dealer’s (without busting), or
- The dealer busts
Payout:
- Normal win → 2× your bet
- Blackjack → 3× your bet (Arcade bonus!)
You Lose When:
- You bust
- The dealer finishes with a higher total
Push (Tie)
If both totals match exactly, or both sides have Blackjack:
- Your original bet is returned
- Everyone acts as if nothing happened
